Toyota Repair: VSC Light on 2001 Avalon XLS, vehicle stability control, vehicle stability control system

My husband just purchased an '01 Avalon XLS with 120K miles on it a week ago.  Everything has been fine with the car; however today he said that the VSC light came on and is staying on.  That is the only light that is on.  Could you please explain what the VSC light is for and what the problem could be?  Thank you.

I'll be glad to help but the first thing I  would need to know is the trouble code that is stored in the system. I would recommend having a toyota dealer do the diagnostic check and then you can get back to me if further explanation is needed. This light turns on when the onboard computer has stored a trouble code in the vehicle stability control system.
