Toyota Repair: 1986 Toyota pickup, alternator test, battery cables

Question
I am having a problem when I go to start the truck, radio won't work nothing electrical will work.  I can jump start it and then it runs fine, until I turn it off and then go to restart it.  I did the alternator test by taking off the battery cables and it keeps running.  The vehicle did sit for approx 6 months with no activity.  Could it possibly be corroded battery cables? Please advise.

Answer
Either battery cable connections are not good or the battery itself may just have an internal short to where it will not accept charging from the alternator, I would recommend that the battery is replaced and replace any battery terminals that hav excessive corosion or at least clean them real good and make sure they are tight.
