Toyota Repair: 1998 Corolla, month today, diagnostic tool

I have a 1998 corolla and I have been experiencing some hesitation for the past month. Today the Check Engine Light began flashing for the first time. It went off after about 30 seconds and did not return. The hesitation occurs at all speeds, but never at idle. Also the hesitation seems to be significantly worse when the AC is on. Any ideas?

The first step in making a diagnosis when the check engine light is on is to have the trouble codes retreived form the computer, this involves connecting a code reader or diagnostic tool to the car, once the codes are known a diagnosis can begin, I'll be glad to help if you can get back to me with the trouble codes.
