Toyota Repair: Subject: Reading error codes Corolla, jumper wire, diagnostic connector

Question
Reading error codes from Corolla 1993 – 1,3 4efe 16V Efi

Hi Paul –
A place on the Internet (http://www.forparts.com/ICtoyotafuelinjectiondiagnosis7.01.htm), I read that it is possible to see error codes displayed by the “check engine” light in the dash by long and short flashes, if I moved the jumper in the diagnostics connector plug? How do I move the jumper to display codes?

If this is possible, please help me with a little guidance.

Thank you, Brian Støvhase Nielsen

Answer
Hi Brian, Open the hood and look at your diagnostic connector. attached to the strut tower on driver side. open the cove and look at cavities(they are numbered) Turn ignition on install jumper wire between terminals TE1 and E1
then count number of flashes. if light does not flash you have to check wiring circuit on those terminals, that is all I can say from far away.If you have codes it will flash 1/2 second apart then 1 1/second flash. to short then pause and one short means code 21.
