Steering Column Repair: im trying to find the right steering column, chevy c10, tilt column

Question
Hello
I will thank you now for any help you can give. what I have is a 1977 Chevy C10 pickup its a 4 spd. on the floor and before I got it someone put a Auto steering column in it and its a Non Tilt it works fine. what I would like to do is put a tilt column in it and would like to stay with a factory tilt column. so what years and model tilt column would work? and someone said something about a splined or dubble D inter.shaft so Im not sure what to look for? or if I can buy either one and change out parts to make it work? the inter shaft I have in the truck now is a dubble D. any help would be great and thanks for all your time.

Answer
Hi Larry:

You need to replace the entire column.  The tilt and non-tilt columns are completely different inside.
You can replace it with a used column if you can find one.

For used parts...Try this site.  You may be able to find what you need.

It's the website all the salvage yards use when they say "Hang on--let me see if my other yard has it".  Actually it's an online database of all the salvage yards in America.  You can search by part, location or price

Good Luck
