Toyota Repair: 94 Camry AC vent selction, vacuum hoses, air doors

Question
QUESTION: My Camry AC is blowing ice cold, but it only blows out through the defroster ducts in the dash near the windshield. I was told that the servomotor is bad. The vent control quit working while it was in the shop for a steering rack replacement. Could an electrical wire have been knocked loose? If not, how can I check the motor and control myself? I am an experienced do-it-yourselfer as well.

ANSWER: It's possible that an electrical connector came off or a vacuum hose to the servomotor(more likely) check the vacuum hoses, by the way, does it have auto a/c and is the vent control a knob that can be turned or is it push buttons, I can help more if I have that info.

QUESTION: Seems to be standard type AC with a knob for the vent control. Toyota mentioned there is no vac control on these Camrys, so I was trying to find an electrical problem. Are there schematics available for the dash that are detailed enough? Weird thing is, driving on the freeway today, AC output moved from defroster position to normal center vents on it own! Afraid to wiggle knob now..
Thanks for your time.

Answer
There are control cables attached to the control unit in the dash, the one that needs to be checked is the one that controls the air flow, the glove box should be removed, the cable that controls the air doors is located to the left of the glove box, by moving the control knob it can be identified, in most cases the control cable came off the retaining clip which makes it also come off the control lever, if that's the case move the control knob all the way to the left and move the control lever all the way back and re attach the cable sleeve on to the retaining clip.
