Toyota Repair: check engine light, toyota 4runner, jumper wire

1992 toyota 4runner recently displayed check engine at 160k and no loss of power and maintenance until hood is up to date.
What could display that light? sensor, etc.

I can help you only if I can have the trouble code stored in the computer,you can do this yourself by opening the hood and locating the diagnostic connector,open the cover then place a jumper wire between the terminals TE1+E1, then turn the key on and read the flashing check engine light which will give the code, for example a code 25 would be two flashes followed by 5, there may be more than one code, there will be a short pause between each code.
