Toyota Repair: 1989 TOYOTA CAMRY SEDAN, AUTOMATIC, fuel pressure gauge, 1989 toyota camry

Question
Dear Ted,
My 1989 Toyota Camry 3S-FE 2000 16 valve Automatic engine was running fine, but I've noticed that if it's idling in park position and if I pressed all the way the gas pedal to the floor into the highest rpm(reviving the engine), the engine will start to stall,...STALLING THEN DIES WHILE THE GAS WAS PRESSED. It should continue running into high rpm, RIGHT? I did this repeatedly, many times but still the same results , it dies. But when I start it, it is easy starting.

Will you please tell me WHAT might be the problem upon your expertise?
What to check?

MUCH OBLIGE AND THANKS,
Reynaldo M.

Answer
Unless it has already been done try replacing the fuel filter, it's located right next to the air filter housing, check the air filter as well, it sounds like there may be a loss of fuel pressure which could also mean a bad fuel pump, the best way to check that its to connect a fuel pressure gauge and observe the pressure. On the other hand there could be a restriction in either the intake or exhaust system so make sure the air filter is not restricted and the rubber intake hose has no foreign objects in it,in some cases the catalityc conver may have disintegrated causing a restricted exhaust, please note that I am on vacation until monday and can not get back until then, if you follow up please do so on monday.
