Toyota Repair: 2000 Toyota 4runner V6, toyota 4runner, diagnostic unit

Question
Ted: I recently purchased the above car with 86,000 miles. The mechanic has a diagnostic unit with code# P0505 which he says is IAC failure. Do I really need a IAC for $165.  or can I drive with the engine light always on?

Also a Po141 OCS sensor, bank 1 Sensor 2.

The car sometimes is rough on starting but warms up. We live in the south pacific with very few good mechanics.

Your thoughts
Thanks

Walter

Answer
You may be able to clean the valve by removing the trottle body and then the valve and clean both out with a brush and some throttle body cleaner, this works most of the time. The PO141 indicated a problem with the O2 sensor located right behind the catalityc converter, it should be replaced.
