Toyota Repair: knock sensor, knock sensor, intake manifold

My problem is a 93 4x4 pickup 3.0 engine auto trans. The check engine light is burning and gives a fault code 53. something to do with the knock sensor,but i can't find anything about location, how to check, or what affects this will have on the vehicle thanks for the help

The knock sensor is located inbetween the cylinder heads in the center of the engine, the sensor itself rarely fails, the may be a problem with the wire, there is a single wire on the driver's side of the engine coming out from under the intake manifold, it either black or gray, the black one is a round connector and the gray one is square shaped, make sure it's connected, if it's connected there may be a break in the wire or the sensor is not connected under the manifold.
