Toyota Repair: Toyota 4x4 auto pickup extra cab, yota trucks, toyota 4x4

Question
my engine had heads done 2 years ago and now compression is very low in two cylinders it has about 264,000 miles i need a long block or a lower rebuild, i thought that i could just get one of those 60,000 mile engines from japan but my truck is to old, the question is which engines are compatible for a swap?

Answer
What year is it?

Is it an R block? Those are not the best engines (They were great by early 80's standards), but Toyota used them in about everything they made that wasn't front wheel drive.

There are a billion of those things around. The old 1r-22r's.
With the E's for EFI.
Hell one even had a turbo, but even those get pretty smoked by the newer v6's. Badly.
Here's a sorta complete list of Toyota engine's through about 2001-2002.

I'm not really the one to help on this. What you'd be best served doing, would be going to a Toyota truck/SUV forum like www.yotatech.com.
Afew tens of thousands of members. Lotta people still rolling the 80's yota trucks. It's obvious why. You about can't kill them.

Here's what Top Gear (The world's #1 car show) had to say about them:
