Toyota Repair: AM2 fuse on a 92 Camry, ted ritter, fuel pump relay

Question
It's a 4 cyl 2200cc.  I've now eliminated the distributor, having taken it out and put it in another identical car and it ran fine. I'm going to try that next (tomorrow morning) with the igniter, "brain box" and a relay of some type that a man at the salvage yard said is under the glove box. He said it was green and has 5 prongs on it he thought.  Hopefully that will end the wild chase.  Do you think I'm on the right track?   Boyd

-----Question-----
I was driving and lost all power and the AM2 (30A) fuse keeps blowing from an obvious hard short somewhere.  I can't find it yet.  Ted Ritter had the same problem on his 90 pickup posted 9/7/06.  I'm a shade-tree and trying my best here. Haven't yet found the airbag sensor to check for corrosion as suggested by one fellow. Driving me crazy.  I need this car to run!  I don't know if it's related, but I did hit a rock when going down a dirt road with it a couple of hours before it did this. No fire. Help.  (817) 229-1502  Thank you. Boyd

Boyd,

First you need to get a wiring diagram and find out what stuff your AM2 fuse runs on that car. I seriously doubt it has anything to do with the airbags.

Second, check the starter motor wiring under the car. You may have damaged it hitting that rock.

Answer
Boyd,

Before you go any further you really need to obtain a wiring diagram for the AM2 fuse circuit. It is likely that something unrelated to your ignition system has caused it to loose power. I would wire an ammeter in-line with the AM2 fuse and check it's current draw while tracing the circuit for the short.

The green 5 pin relay under the dash is your fuel pump relay also known as (circuit opening relay).
