Toyota Repair: 2000 toyota tacoma 4x4 , 4cyl running bad, toyota tacoma 4x4, toyota lexus

Question
Hi, I have a 2000 toyota tacoma 4x4  4cyl with 175,000 miles on it that is or I should say was in top shape until last night. All of a sudden it started loosing power and missing and bucking a bit.  It would idle fine, but I could only get about 40-45 mph out of it tops.  No indicator lights illuminated.  I was able to get home and was wonderin if I should dare try driving it to the shop or be towed.  I'm thinking computer malfunction.  What do you think this could be an indication of?

Answer
Toyota computers don't die. OK... The Prius computers did for afew years. other than that ask any Toyota/Lexus/Scion mehcanic if they've ever seen a dead computer. Nope. ;)
Anything can happen but you'd be my first!

Is the engine light burned out? Get it scanned somewhere for free to make sure. Normally they'll throw codes for missing. They know when the spark plugs don't fire correctly. I digress. Check that there are no vaccuum leaks, that the MAF sensor is in specification (You can clean the wire inside it with a q-tip soaked in rubbing alcohol), the fuel injectors are operating correctly & the fuel pressure is correct @ the fuel rail. And check the spark plugs for fouling.
