Toyota Repair: engine light is on, scantool, trouble code

i have a 98 corolla and two days ago i was driving the car it sounded like a misfire, and i park the car shift it in reverse or drive the car start to rattle. now i warm up the car this morning i saw the engine light is on, try to rev the car and i heard this pop again, please help. thank you

I need to know what the trouble code is that turned the check engine light on, it needs to be connected to a diagnostic scantool to retreive the codes, then I can help. Alot of autoparts stores will do this at no charge so check around for an autozone etc.
