Toyota Repair: Cold Natured, engine temp, egine

Question
I own a 94 Corolla with 129K miles. It runs great and gets great mileage. My problem is. When it gets cool (approx. 45 deg.) the engine does not warm up and the transmission will not shift into over drive. Sometime I can drive all the way to work (20 miles) and it will not shift. It shifts good to third gear it is just over drive.
Thanks
Bob

Answer
Several things could lead to that.
The trans ecu is integral to the egine ecu. It needs to see something like 158 degrees engine temp. to shift to O/D.
Do you get heat in the car. If no, then maybe its time for a thermostat.
If you get heat then maybe you need a new engine temp sensor.
You can get wiring diagrams and sensor and relay locations at www.techinfo.toyota.com.
