Toyota Repair: Toyota Camry 2006 gear shift, camry v6, toyota camry

Question
My 2006 Camry V6 automatic (10,000 miles)has begun being very hard to get out of park.  I have to spend several minutes (intermittently) "flipping the steering wheel", then depressing the brake, then it may or may not shift out of park.  I have had to do it as many as eight times or so in order for it to "synchronize" and then it easily shifts as usual.  Has been happening for about one month.  Have not taken it in because it doesn't happen all the time.  Is there anything I could be doing wrong?  I read the manual.  Thank you for your time.

Answer
In almost all cases of the shifter being difficult to get out of park  there have been drinks spilled on to the center console, soft drinks or coffee containing sugar will make the shift interlock system stick, the solenoid won't release and it will be difficult to move the shifter and to get it out of the park position. The solution is to remove the upper shift cover and spray the area with a solution of mild soap and water then lubricate with a sparay lubricant, if this is not the case visit the toyota dealer because this may still be under the warranty.
