Toyota Repair: 95 Camry Power Windows/Locks Failure, open circuits, multiple wires

Question
Have a problem with my '95 Camry.
Had a short in the wiring at the rear driver side door.  Window
would roll down, but only roll up if I opened the door. Power
lock on that door would not work. All others were OK
I jiggled the wires a bit Now none of the power locks and
windows work .
I looked at and switched all the fuses under the dash and in the
engine compartment, as well as relays under the dash
I pulled the casing from the wires going to the back door, and
they were frayed, and looked like two shorted out. If you look at
the wires, two before the fray are "together"..like if you buy
multiple wires on a roll...However, after the fray, the wires are
separate.
I cut the wires, thinking that if I cut them, the short would
correct itself.No luck
Then I thought that maybe with the wires cut, the circuit wasn't
complete, so I reconnected  the wires at the break ....no luck.
Am I on track with the wiring? Should I attempt to re wire again?
Thanks for any advice.....Camry has 203,000 on it, just trying to
postpone the "Do Not resuscitate" order

Answer
It does sound the problem is in the wiring, make sure that the color codes of the wires match when splicing them, also be sure that you are going far enough into the harness to find any open circuits/wires, the best way to do this is with a simple ohm meter reading from a wire inside to the corresponding color wire in the door, look for an open circuit and repair it.
