Toyota Repair: toyota truck dying, salvage yard, toyota truck

Question
Hello Ted,
My son's 1984 toyota truck (4 cyclinder) starts when cold but dies after driving for a while. It starts back up after it cools back down. It is getting gas. I got no spark at the number one plug (while the motor is warm) Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, John in Alabama

Answer
There used to be a common problem with the distributors back then, I would recommend replacing it, you could try locating a used one from a salvage yard or from an aftermarket autoparts place, the ones from the dealer are very expensive and may not even be available anymore for this model.
