Toyota Repair: 98 Toyota Corolla Stereo installation, toyota corolla, radio wiring

I have a 98 toyota corolla 4 dr sedan dx and I recently bought a cd player to install bc my car didnt have one.  The wiring in my car is completely different from the wiring on the stereo.  The wiring on the stereo plugs into the stereo and the ends are left dangling with no plug.  So my bf tried to hook the ends up. What color is the power switch? Grounding?  Should I just buy a wiring harness kit or and installation kit?

The cd player should have come with an installation kit and instructions how wire it in so I'm not sure what is going on, is the replacement a am/fm radio with built in CD or are you installing a seperate cd player with your existing radio, in any case if you can give me an email address I can send a wiring diagram that shows the radio wiring.
