Toyota Repair: Engine not firing, inch gap, fuse box

Question
I have a 1986 Toyota small pickup truck.  The week b4 Thanksgiving my daughter took the battery out to put in her Mustang. At this point the p/u was running fine.  I got another battery to put back in the p/u and my brainchild hooked the cables backwards.  Ok, the ignition fuse under the dash in the fuse box blew and the main Fuse in the under hood box (fusible link, the black one with the legs, blew).  I have replaced these and all other fuses, new cables, new cable ends and truck is turning over very strong, all lights work etc.  but no fire to engine.  Any ideas as to why?
Someone told  me it might be the firing mechanism in the distributor? By the way, I am a clueless female, just trying this and that to avoid expensive repairs.   Thanks for any help!!

Answer
Replacing all those fuses normally takes care of the problem, was the 60amp alternator fuse replaced?
I don't think the problem is in the distributor, try replacing the EFI main relay.
If there is a test light or voltmeter available chec to see if there is voltage to the + side of the coil with the key on.
When grounding the coil wire is there a spark when cranking the engine and if so is there spark at the plug wire connectors when grounding one of the plug wires, the spark should jump about 1/2 inch gap.
If that checks ok I would look at fuel pressure next.
