Toyota Repair: mr2 needs some guts, camry v6, plastic gears

Question
I have been researching a problem for a friend and have found no information confirming the problem he wants to fix. He bought a '92 mr2 body (not sure what components it comes w) he was wanting to put in a '92 camry v6 (for power)but he believes his main problem is going to be plastic components in the transmission. So far I have found that this is a very costly swap to begin with, and I have not seen any thing about plastic in the transmission exp. the odometer. He wants to spend about 1200, after the body.
Is there a more sound, more efficient way to get the power he would like as well as a sound transmission ( ?thatdoesn't have plastic components?)
am I right that the camry engine swap would not be possible for 1200 including buying it ($400) ?
Is there really plastic gears and or bearings in the '92 toyota transaxles?
If so, is there a replacement AM set to replace them?
What would you suggest if you were DEAD set against putting in an mr2 engine?
I hope that I have been able to make this at least a little more clear than what I was given to work with.

Answer
I have no idea about the plastic gears in the transmission, makes no sense to me, the shift forks in the transmission may have a teflon surface on them but that's the only thing I can relate to.
Now I'm going to be very honest with you and you can tell your friend this:
I doubt very much that the V-6 engine will even fit into the MR-2, it won't even bolt up to the MR2 transmission, sorry, this is not possible. Maybe some counseling is needed here :)
