Toyota Repair: removing rearend differential on 1987 toyota van, rear brake drums, parking brake cable

need to know how to remove a rearend differential on toyota van 1986 and replacing rear axle bearing  

Answer
Remove the rear brake drums, remove the 4 14mm nuts that attach the backing plate to the axle housing, remove the hydraulic brake lines at the wheel cylinders, remove the parking brake cable, the axles can then be pulled out to replace the axle bearing there is no need to remove the differential carrier.
You will need a hydraulic press to remove the axle bearings from the housing, if no press is available you can have a machine shop do the press work for you.
