Motorcycle Repair: baffles and back pressure cones, horse power, choise

Question
I just installed a set of samson long cannons on my wifes 04 1200 sporty. I used back pressure cones in the pipes and it seems to run fine but is way to loud for her.Should I take the cones out when I install baffles, or leave them in? Also the baffles come in 1 3/4 or 2 inch. the pipes are 2 1/4 diameter. She just wants it toned down a little.    thanks, BL

Answer
Hi Bob.
Back pressure cones do NOT WORK at all. The exhaust system you installed is not at all a good one, Bad choise. It may look cool but it killed any horse power and torque that 1200 sportster had. You will never ever get the bike tuned correctly with tho's pipes. I would install a white brothers e-series 2 into 1 exhaust system and gain 10 horse power and 15 ft lbs of torque and you can easly tune the bike correctly. The sound is better and they are made better and make more torque and horse power accross the entire power band. The sportster does not make much torque or horse power below 4,500 rpm and now you just killed it even more with samson exhaust system. put the baffles in you can't hert the power any more then you all ready have and it will be quitier for your wife.
