Toyota Repair: 1991 MR2 suspension, strutt, strut

Question
Hi,
I need to replace the suspension in my 1991 MR2 sold in Germany, I have been told that some models have seviceable strutts so I only need to change the insert and not the whole strutt, but, how do i know if my model admit this? or I need to change the whole strutt at a much higher price? because I want to be be sure before posting my order for this part.

Thanks in advance,
Alex

Answer
According to the service manual the strut can be disassembled and a cartridge can be installed, on top of the strut is a large nut than has to be removed, there may be gas pressure inside so do this slowly, I'm not sure if it's worth doing it this way and I recommend replacing the entire strut, try getting a price from an aftermarket supplier like Monroe, check with a local supplier.
