Toyota Repair: 2002 camry brakes, wheel disc brakes, rear drum brakes

Question
I have a 2002 Camry with 9000 miles. Bought it from my daughter 5 months ago with just 5000 miles. She hadn't used it very much for well over a year due to illness. (I had been driving a 1998 camry previously).I felt that the brakes felt very spongy, and had the 7500 mile checkup, brakes were checked, and I was told they were fine and that's how hydraulic brakes work.  I've adjusted to that and was comfortable.  Last week my brother visited me, and we drove 200 miles one day (he did the driving)He also felt the brakes felt spongy, and his concern was that altho they stopped well enough, they were almost to the floor when you applied enough pressure.  I explained what the Toyota person said, and he did say that because he never drove new cars (he always buys used Cadillacs in great condition) that might be right, but he'd feel better if I checked it once again.  What's your opinion? Is it ok for the brake to go that low at certain stopping times?

Answer
If this car has rear drum brakes they can be adjusted to make the pedal come up, if it has four wheel disc brakes they are not adjustable and are self adjusting.
I would recommend having the dealer look at it again and adjust the rear brakes if possible, this could be a normal condition.
