Toyota Repair: 99 Corolla Fuel Filter and maintenance, manual recommendations, engine misfire

Question
HI,
I have a 99 Corolla with approx. 58,000 miles.  My question is about the fuel filter and general maintenance.  I was told that it is not able to be serviced, my concern is that the system will break down and the car's life will be shortened if I cannot change this filter. Is this true that it cannot be changed, and if so how can I maintain the car so that it lasts well over 100,000 miles? The only problem I currently have is a rough idle with slightly elevated vibration that I can feel, not dieseling, and no noise.
Please help.
Thanks!!

Answer
The fuel filter is in the gas tank and is not a maintenance item, follow the owners manual recommendations to make the car last a long time, I don't know what may be causing the rough idle, possibly an engine misfire I suggest that you have the toyota dealer check and diagnose that problem. Normally any engine malfunction will turn the check engine light on, is this light on?
