Toyota Repair: Replace timing belt of 1995 Corolla DX 1.8L, timing belt, corolla

I just purchased a 1995 Corolla DX 4dr sedan with 1.8L engine.  I don't know when or if the timing belt has been changed.  How can I tell if the belt needs to be changed?  What are the steps to change the timing belt?  Thank you.

Remove the top part of the timing cover and inspect the belt, if there are any cracks in it or it is loose, it needs to be replaced.
I can't give step by step instructions, there is too much involved, try to find some sort of manual that gives instructions.
