Hello, I have a 1996 Toyota Camry, (96,000) miles.
Recent repairs, crank shaft speed sensor, timing belt, trasmission fuel replaced.  I have had trouble with the yellow engine light coming on.  I have had a mechanic try to figure out just how to solve the problem.  The code is 1705, the mechanic says he tried to adjust something on the transmission per another technicians instructions.  After doing so the light went off but returned after driving about 20 miles with the same code.  Do you have any advise as to how to fix what the code 1705 is signaling us to repair.  You help is greatly appreciated.
Answer -
This trouble code relates to a direct clutch speed sensor malfunction, it's located on top of the transmission, tell the mechanic to replace this it should fix the problem. If it doesn't get back to me.
Answer -
The crank angle sensor is not the same as the direct clutch speed sensor, the crank sensor detects engine speed and sends this information to the computer, the trouble code PO1705 refers to the vehicle speed sensor in the transmission, this is the one that needs to be replaced.

thanks for the reply and I hope that it fixes the problem for you.

Answer
The direct clutch speed sensor is very easy to replace, it is located on top of the transmission differential housing, you may have to remove the intake air hose and the top of the air filter housing, it has an electrical connector on it and a 12mm bolt connecting it to the housing, remove the connector and the bolt and it will pull out of the housing.
