Toyota Repair: gearbox fault, good luck jack, camery

Hi, My 1993 220 Camery recently ran a bearing (no aparent reason) Anyhow we had the crank ground and the bearings replaced,the engine reassembled and replaced--all is fine,except that now,the gearbox won't change down when you hit the gas.Please bear in mind that the car was towed +/-13 miles.
Any help will greatly appreciated,the guys here in South Africa are stumpd.

You say it won't downshift (change down) when you hit the gas.
Does it upshift at all. If it does upshift then my guess is that the trans throttle cable (downshift cable) is out of adjustment. You may try moving the cable toward the throttle body or away and see if that helps.
