Toyota Repair: Toyota Corolla stalling, intake manifold gasket, toyota corolla

Question
I have a 1988 Toyota Corolla that occasionally stalls after stopping.  I have taken it in to several dealerships and mechanics who are stumped by what it could be.  The car has had a tune-up, and the fuel filter and air filter replaced.  The fuel pump is fine.  After changing the type of fuel from a lower to higher octane it appears to improve somewhat but still stalls. Could this be a carburetor issue?

Answer
Yes, these last generation  computer controlled carburetors gave a lot of problems and are so complicated that the factory told us not to try to repair them but rather replace them, there may also be a vacuum hose leaking or installed in the wrong place, there could be an air leak at the base of the carb or at the intake manifold gasket, just some possibilities.
