Question1995 toyota,4runner with50,000miles sometimes will not upshift,will stay in either fifst or 2nd and other days it shifts normal. any ideas? engine is 3.0 thanks r.d.
AnswerThis is an ECT transmission and has self diagnostic capabilities, I suggest that you have a dealer see if there are any trouble codes stored in the computer, it is probably shift solenoid related or possibly a valve body problem.
When did this start to happen?
Have you checked the fluid level, if it's low there may be a leak.
Low fluid can cause this condition.
