Toyota Repair: oil seal, crankshaft pulley, crank pulley

Question
I have a 1980 toyota truck with the 20R engine. It is leaking oil Around the front bottom part of the engine unusally bad. I have to add a quart of oil after about 76 miles of operation.Any information you could give me on replacing the oil seal would be appreciated,Yours truly Howard Barfield

Answer
Hello Howard, welcome to my expert page.
There is a seal just behind the crankshaft pulley,it's actually the oil pump seal, to fix this leak the crank pulley has to be removed and then the oil pump, there is also an o-ring that seals the oil pump, the biggest problem is to get the pulley off, the bolt can be really tight and sometimes it takes a puller to get the pulley off.
