Toyota Repair: Lifter Noise, toyota avalon, lifter

Question
I have a 1996 Toyota Avalon with 125,000 on it.
It runs great and uses no oil. My problem is,it has some lifter noise. Is there anything I can do short of engine work?

If it is lifter noise and not something else you could try to have them adjusted, they are mechanical lifters, not hydraulic, although this is time consuming and not cheap, you may want to get a second opinion as to what the noise actually may be, it's not very common for these to go out of adjustment unless there is another problem.
