Toyota Repair: Brakes, brake rotors, minimum thickness

Question
When I step on the brake it feels lumpy.  It feels like the brake peddle is not hitting against a smooth surface. This happens when I am braking from a speed of about 40 miles/hr or more. I don't notice the lumpy feeling when I am braking at a slower speed.  I had new brake pads put on about a year ago.

Thanks for your help.

Answer
Hello Ann, welcome to my expert page.
This sounds like the brake rotors are warped, I suggest you have them inspected and measured to make sure they are not below the specified minimum thickness, if they are they need to be replaced or resurfaced on a machine if they are still serviceable.
