Toyota Repair: 1991 Toyota 4x4, 4 cylinder, carbureted engines, filter hose

Question
The tuck will not stay running. It starts for a few seconds and dies or if I try to give it gas it dies. It ran fine until I did the following:
I changed two belts, the one for the altenater & pwr steering. I removed the air filter hose from the carb(?) in order to have more room to work. Now it will not stay running. I may have tried to start it to check the belts and forgot to completely connect the hoses back up. Would that cause the gas to not get to the carb? I also changed the plugs, cap & rotor.

Answer
Hello Aaron, welcome to my expert page.
As far as I know Toyota did not produce any more carbureted engines in 1991, are you sure it is not a fuel injected engine?
If it is, check the large intake hose between the air filter and the throttle body, I think there is an air leak there, sometimes they can crack when removed, make sure the clamps are tight.
