Motorcycle Repair: wet electrical, 125cc motorcycle, motorcyle battery

Question
Danee, I bought a new 125cc motorcycle from www.pocketbikesunlimited.com it has 0 miles on it.
Its the rs25.
I put in a new motorcyle battery from walmart and its fully charged.
I had spilled about a gallon of water on the bike and gas leaked out of the bottom of the gas tank.
The bike kick starts but the electric start does not work anymore? Its either a short or something significant got wet! Any answers? Also my neigbor claims it dosent go into 2nd gear, he claims something small, like something is bent and wont go into 2nd gear, he claims its not a big deal but i know nothing about bikes. what could possibly be "bent" not making go? Please email me asap, thanks.

Answer
Anthony,

check your fuses in case the starter uses
one somewhere. Check for any loose wires
or connectors. Dry the bike out well.

Gas should not leak out unless something
is stuck, loose or assembled wrong.
Is the bike running okay?
Maybe there is a gas oveflow or vent that leaked?

Make sure the shift lever is not hitting
on anything before it makes a full stroke.

Otherwise, the shifter usually goes
through to the right side of the bike
and inside the clutch cover.

Inside the cover is where the shifter
assembly is. If the problem is not
in there, it is a bigger problem
which requires splitting the engine
to check the transmission.
