Toyota Repair: $runner wont start, cold cranking amps, good luck jack

Question
I have a 1995 automatic Toyota 4runner, 4wd, V6.  For several months now, It will start for the most part but after no more than 3 starts, the car will not turn over anymore.  The battery is fine and the engine checks out but the car just won't turn over- as in, if you put the key in the ignition and turn it alll the way over, all you will hear is a very small click.  If you laeve it idle for at leat 12 hours,  then it will start about 3 more times before the same problem occurs.  Please help.  Email me if you need more details.  Thanks.

Answer
My best guess is either the battery or the starter contacts in the starter solneoid.

I know you say the battery is fine but it needs to be at least 575 CCA (cold cranking amps) to start the engine. It really needs to be tested to find out it's condition.

If the battery is fine then the contacts are all that wear out in the starter. Normally when they are failing you will get a single click from the right side of the dash each time the key is turned. Normally it will always start if you keep turning the key on or off.
You can go to www.yotarepair.com/startercontacts.html for more information.

Had you described it a little differently I would go for a poor ground connection or wire at the battery but in this case I don't think so.
Good luck
Jack
