Tractor Repair: Kubota tractor, kubota l245, gear speed

Question
I just got a kubota l245 tractor and it has a 3 speed pto. What are the 3 different speeds used for? And can the 3rd gear speed  be too fast and wreck something?

Answer
I'm not an expert on Kubota, but different types of implements use different pto speeds and yes you can wreck something on the implement if you overspeed it.  If something is designed to run at 540 rpm, don't use a faster speed.  It won't hurt the tractor, but will shorten the life of the implement and could also be a safety hazard to you or anyone nearby if something flies apart.  540 and 1000 rpm are the only speeds used in the USA.  I've seen tractors with a 750 option which is used in Europe.
