Tractor Repair: Case 5250, clutch pedal, ohm meter

Question
My transmission diagnostic code "indicates none or multiple clutch pressures detected by the control module."  Where should I look first?

Answer
Hello,

You most likely have a bad powershift clutch pressure switch.  There should be a noticeable pattern of when the transmission stops working and the light flashes which will help figure out which one is bad.   For instance, if the problem occurs when shifting from 1 to 2 or from 3 to 2, then the pressure switch for number 2 clutch is bad.  If the problem occurs when shifting from 1 to 2, but not when shifting from 3 to 2, then number 1 switch is bad.  The clutch pedal must be cycled after each shift when checking for a pattern.  The switches can be checked with an ohm meter also.  They are normally closed and should have no resistance.  If the ohm meter shows even a few ohms resistance, the switch should be replaced.  The switches are on the powershift control valve on the right side of the transmission above the battery box.
