Tractor Repair: ford 3500 3 cyl. diesel pump/timing, timing gears, diesel pump

Question
my 3500 stalled on me. not getting fuel from pump to injectors. does it sound like the pump is bad? if so how do i disassemle and time it properly? transfer pump gets plenty of fuel to filters. thanks for the help. regards steven

Answer
How is your fuel flow out of the filters.
To remove the pump, there is and inspection cover to the flywheel that will show timing marks usually they look like TMS or sometimes just a line.
This will let you know when you are at tdc.
removing the injectors will help when turning the engine over by hand, plus you will want them checked with the pump.
While it's a tdc remove the front cover to the injection pump and document where the timing gears are at. The pump is keyed so the gear has to go on one way.
They should have a number or letters that line up.
after you have all of this wrote down remove the pump.
Let me know what you find out.
Sorry it took so long to answer.
