Tractor Repair: 542B Bobcat, piston rings, engine oil

Question
Hello,
I have a 542B bobcat with the 4cyl Ford gas motor in it. I seem to be getting gas in the oil. Have you heard of this happening before and do you know what the fix would be?

Thanks for your time.

Answer
I wish I had better news for you.  I would suspect that the gas in your engine oil is coming from the inside of the cylinders and running past the worn out piston rings. I think you engine is just flat worn out. If your engine is running good then the only other place that I think it can come from is your transfer pump running off the cam. It would have to be really messed up or cracked to have that happen but I have seen it once. I bet you someone has used a little shot of ether to start it and you got some broken ring lands. If that is the case it should run terrible.
