Question
hi i have a 19771370 case the clutch is not engaging to the very top of pedel i have adjusted the linkage and getting full up and down on valve is there any adjustment i can do on the valve body itself

Answer
Hello,

Remove the plug on the other side of the valve body that is directly in line with the spool on the valve that moves up and down with the pedal.  There will be 2 springs and a pointed object that looks like an arrowhead from the side, that will come out with the plug.  One of the springs will be smaller and lighter, and the other will be bigger and heavier.  The smaller spring fits onto a peg on the plug and the larger one goes against the end of the small one.  There should also be a small washer between these 2 springs to keep the smaller one from screwing itself into the larger one.  Sometimes these springs break or get distorted and sometimes the washer is missing between them.  If everything is OK there, then the pressures for all of the clutch packs should be checked with gauges.  There are pressure test ports on the valve with pipe plugs in them where the hoses for the gauges can be installed.  There should be 200 - 210 psi with the pedal up.  If the pressures are low, are not all the same, or if the needles on the gauges are jumping up and down, there is an internal problem in the transmission that will need to be repaired.
