Tractor Repair: caseih mx 110 pto codes, negative battery cable, chassis grounds

Question
The 540 rpm pto on my 1999 mx 110 does not engage.  I get the error code 16 when I check them.  Where can I find what codes are for what and or what to do to fix them?

Answer
Hello,

The only place I know of to find the fault codes is in the repair service manual.  Fault code 16 means low voltage (9.8 volts or lower)to the pto controller.  Check the cab power stud on the firewall to make sure it is clean and tight.  Check all the grounds.  Not just the negative battery cable, but the small wires that are attached to the negative cable clamp, and the chassis grounds.  To see if this code is still active or just stored in memory, erase the codes and try the pto again, then check if any codes come back after trying to run the pto.  To erase the codes, you have to retrieve all of them first.  After a codes is displayed, turn the pto switch off and back on to show the next code.  Keep doing this until the light stops flashing codes and stays on.  This means you have reached the end of the code list.  Now turn the pto switch off and on 3 times quickly, ending with the switch in the on position.  The light should flash once, meaning the codes have been erased.  Let me know if you need more help.
