Tractor Repair: Case 255 compact Diesel dies after warmup, warmup question, electric solenoid

QUESTION: The tractor cranks and runs fine until it warms up good.
Then it will die when trying to move, but will always recrank. Not running hot, air filter clean.

  Change the fuel filter if you haven't already done so.  Also check the flow of fuel from the tank to see if there is a restriction.

QUESTION: HI Arnie

All this is done and problem still exists. Can run for
15-20 minutes and then just dies. Strange thing, when I recrank it, I have to give it lots pedal to stay running
and the oil light will not go out. Oil level is correct.
Any other ideas?

Hello,

  Make sure the fuel tank is venting so it is not building up a vacuum in the tank.  Possibly the governor in the injection pump is failing.  If it has an electric solenoid on the injection pump to shut the engine off, make sure it is getting the proper voltage.  If it shuts off with a pull cable, make sure it is adjusted properly.  

  As for the oil light, remove the sending unit for the light and screw in a gauge to check the actual oil pressure.  Possibly the sending unit is faulty.
