Tractor Repair: Kubota B7100 Tractor, hydraulic pumps, glow plugs

Question
Arnie, I have several. I just purchased this tractor and am not very mechanically inclined. 1st the steering wheel turns about 1/2 way around before anything ever moves. 2nd what kind of fluid do you use on the pto, frt end loader, etc? What kind of oil is best for this tractor?  The glow plug isn't working?? When you put weight on the back life, it will slowly drain off. Checked the fluid and it's empty, will filling this solve my problem? Is there a place where a person can get a "reasonably" priced repair manual so I'll at least have something to look at?  Thanks so much and you provide a very great service to people like me.

Answer
  Hello,

Filling it to the proper oil level might solve your steering problem.  Or maybe something is loose or worn out on the front axle. Use Kubota UDT oil for hydraulic and transmission oil.  It is the only oil recommended, but be prepared....it's very pricey.  As far as the glow plugs, you will have to determine if there is power getting to the plugs from the switch.  If there is, then the glow plugs are probably bad and should be tested or replaced.  If the fluid is empty, you shouldn't be running the tractor to avoid damaging the hydraulic pumps.  If you don't have an operator's manual, get one.  They aren't expensive and are an absolute  necessity.  If you really want a repair manual, they are very expensive, and I would check ebay if you don't want to pay Kubota's price.  If you're not mechanically inclined as you said, a repair manual might not be much help anyway.  Most of the info you will need is in the operator's manual.

Good luck with your new purchase.
