Triumph Repair: TR7 Seat refurbishment, channel lock pliers, rimmer brothers

Question
Good morning,

I am just about to start to refurbish the seats in my wife's 1977 TR7. I have bought all the replacement parts and seat covers from Rimmer Brothers.

My first problem is taking off the head rests. Do I have to take the old seat covers off first?

Regards

Alan

Answer
Hi Alan,

All you need to do is to unfasten the seat back material at the bottom and pull it up to the head rest and remove the cardboard backing (if it has one) to expose the headrest socket and you can then see the ears that stop it from being pulled up and out. Just use a large pair of channel lock pliers to compress the ears in and bump the headrest up and out.
