Triumph Repair: General, austin healeys, jaguar xj 6

Question
Thanks for your answer, Howard.

One last question: Why didn't Triumphs appreciate like Austin Healeys did once their production ceased?

Answer
Hi Don,

That is hard to say other then I don't believe the A-H production was as high as Triumphs and it was a little more expensive car and had a more rounded classic car look to it. Who knows what appeals to people. You can never tell what gets valuable when it gets old and what don't. Look at the Jaguar XJ-6 series III car. It was and still is a beautiful and good driving car but you can buy one running anywhere for $2500. to $3500. and they sold new for around $40,000.00 but there are many cars that were a piece of junk that sell for a fortune now.

I always wanted a MG TF to restore and passed up several for under $1000. years ago and the cheapest one I found now was $5,000.00 in a basket with half the parts missing. I wish I knew back then as I passed up many buys that I wish I had bought and just stored like several Corsair fighter planes offered to me in the mid 60s for $2,000 each and a complete Mk II Jag with straight stick and wire wheels running for $800. and I passed them up. I look at cars today and don't see any worth keeping. The few I see that will be worth a lot later are so expensive now it probably is not a worthwhile venture.
