Triumph Repair: J Type OD Solenoid question, click sound, valve assembly

What is the proper travel in a Spitfire J type overdrive solenoid? I'm observing what appears to be less than 0.100", is that correct? I was expecting more. I just rebuilt the OD unit and replaced the o-rings in the solenoid and was resting it. Any insight would be appreciated.

Hi Tim,
The solenoid and valve assembly is a unit and no adjustment can be made. The only test is to connect a 12v power and ground and a low amp ammeter and confirm that the solenoid draws about 2 amps and that the valve returns when the power is removed. There will be no "Click" sound when operated like other types of OD solenoids do.
