Triumph Repair: Clutch Problems, Spitfire, clutch

Question
I have replaced the master and slave clutch cylinders and bleed completely but I still do not have anything. The pedal stops short and I don't think the slave piston is engaging enough. I was told to try and widen the flat spot on slave cylinder so that it can be pushed farther in. Any ideas

Answer
Paul,

First off, any wear on the end of the clutch pedal, clevis pin, or the push rod end will lose quite a bit in travel on the master cylinder.

And it's really easy to put the slave back in and not engage the push rod for the clutch.

Best way I've found to bleed a clutch slave fully is to prop the clutch pedal to the floor for several days to let residual bubbles out out of the system.

Cheers,

Jim
