Triumph Repair: TR4 Original Owner, float chamber, gumout

Question
My Father bought this car in 1965 and it has been part of the family ever since.

I stumped on this one and very much appreciate your help.

Just completed a valve job and replace all ignition parts.  Car was running awesome for about 20 miles and then died on the side of the road.

I took a look in the gas tank and it seems very clean and I much to my surprise I saw no rust.  Ran the car and after several minutes got it to run although very rough.  Then after a few minutes more it started to run great at which time I backed it out of the drive way.  When I stepped on the gas it sputtered and dies.  Took off the float chamber covers and there was plenty of gas in each one.  Got it to start although very rough, and lifted the floats and the float chambers immediately started to overflow. Then car died and would not start again.  Checked all the plug wires and nothing was loose.  Pushed back into the garage and called it a night.

Next day I use 2 containers of gumout on it and it ran extremely well and I thought I had it fixed.  After several minutes of purring like a cat it suddenly died and was hard to start again.  This morning started it and same ol same ol.  I thought next I would put in a new condenser.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Answer
Hi Phil,
If that car came to me in a dealership that I was working in I would have to run the tests in my tech tip which you need to read.

These tests should be done when the engine dies so that you are testing it in it's failed mode. Don't skip any of the tests and do them as accurately as you can.
Let me know the results of the tests.
